Planning a Trip to East Africa?

Visit East Africa

If you are planning a trip to East Africa, you should know that this continent is full of diverse wildlife. You can find smaller herds of animals in some countries, and you can also go diving with whale sharks and dolphins. You can explore the rich history and culture of the various countries that make up this region. Here are some ideas for your trip to this part of the world:

Ethiopia

Travel to Ethiopia will allow you to enjoy its stunning landscapes and a variety of wildlife. You’ll see typical African savannah animals, as well as some indigenous creatures. However, this beautiful country is not yet the tourist destination of choice, primarily because there is a lack of tourism infrastructure. Unlike neighboring Kenya and Tanzania, Ethiopia’s government only recognized tourism as a major economic sector in 2013.

Kenya

The first step in determining whether Kenya is the right place to visit is to research its geography. Kenya is a sprawling nation, with diverse geography, including the vast desert and dry semi-arid regions. The western provinces are mainly forested and marked by lakes, while the northern regions are more desert-like. Kenya’s wildlife is particularly diverse, attracting visitors from all over the world. Tourism contributes a significant portion of the country’s economy, making it worth visiting.

Tanzania

The vast wilderness areas of Tanzania are a must-see for safari lovers. Visit the Serengeti National Park for a chance to see the ‘big five’ and the highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro. The island of Zanzibar has Arab influences, and Mafia is home to a marine park with whale sharks and coral reefs. No trip to Tanzania would be complete without a visit to Mafia.

Rwanda

If you’re planning a trip to Rwanda in East Africa, you should know the country’s culture before you go. The people here are highly conservative, and women generally dress modestly. If you do decide to wear shorts, expect to get double the attention than you’d usually receive. Couples in Rwanda rarely display affection in public, but men will often walk hand-in-hand with their male companions. Women rarely smoke alone, and smoking is not prohibited in public areas. If you do, be prepared to hear complaints from locals.

Uganda

A landlocked country in East Africa, the country of Uganda is rich with diverse landscapes, including the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Victoria. The country is home to an abundance of wildlife, including chimpanzees, mountain gorillas, and rare birds. The country is also home to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of the best places in the world to see mountain gorillas. The country is also home to Murchison Falls National Park, which features a 43-meter waterfall.

Ukerewe Island

Located on the Tanzanian side of Lake Victoria, Ukerewe Island is the largest inland island in East Africa. The island consists of 27 smaller islands that are inhabited and part of the park. The island is isolated from the mainland by about 3.8 km of lake water, so you can get there by vehicle. The island is also very rural, with dirt roads and rice and corn fields. It’s a great place to experience authentic Tanzanian life and admire the island’s untouched nature.

Hwange National Park

The Hwange District is an administrative district in Zimbabwe and southern Africa. The park is named after the Hwange River, which flows through the area. The Hwange District is home to some of the most majestic animals in the world. This national park was designated as a World Heritage Site in 1997. Visitors can enjoy a safari in this park without spending a fortune. In fact, you can see the largest concentration of rhinoceros in one area.

Victoria Falls

When planning your trip to Victoria Falls, consider the different sides of the country. If you’re planning to visit the Zambian side, you can see three-quarters of the Falls. In contrast, the Zimbabwean side has year-round water flow and is home to several high-adrenaline activities. In Zimbabwe, you can visit the lower Zambezi National Park and the Mana Pools National Park. Both of these countries offer incredible experiences that are sure to make your trip one to remember.
